Terms of use

1. This service enables users to order map images showing travel time bands to or from their chosen UK postcodes by public transport. It is provided by Mapumental Ltd.
2. We reserve the right to update these Terms from time to time. Please check back to this page regularly.
3. You must be 18 or older to use the service.
4. To order maps from Mapumental Ltd, the user must first register on the site and buy credits.
5. A contract is formed between Mapumental Ltd and the user when credits are purchased using PayPal, at which point Mapumental Ltd will send the user an email (to the email address used during registration) as confirmation.
6. The user has the right to cancel for up to seven days after purchasing credits. They can do this by contacting us and asking for a cancellation and refund. If however any credits used during this seven day period to order map images only the value of the unused credits will be refunded to the user.
7. Credits purchased can be used to order maps up to six months after the point of purchase. Any credits not used in the six months after purchase will become void and cannot be used to order maps.
8. To order a map image the user must first have registered on the Mapumental site and purchased at least one credit. Having done so the user is directed to a map request submission page, where they can specify the options for each map: postcode, arrival or departure time, maximum travel time (this is then split into five time bands shown on the map) and title of the map.
9. When a request is submitted, Mapumental Ltd will create the map and email it to the email address the user has specified in setting up their user account. Usually, the requested map images will be made within one working day from the submission of request, although we reserve the right to take up to three working days if there is a large number of orders requiring processing.
10. Should the map you ordered fail to match the description given in these Terms, or should anything go wrong in the process of ordering due to the fault of Mapumental Ltd (rather than fault of a 3rd party) we will be happy to refund your purchase or create a new map for you as soon as practicable. Please contact us if this is the case.
11. Users can also enquire about custom maps or large quantity orders through a form provided on the site. Such enquiries are not considered to be orders.
12. The travel time calculations used for creating map images are based on the National Public Transport Database (NPTDR) which contains data on actual journey times in the UK recorded in October every year. This data can only be an indication of the likely travel times in the future. The travel times given in map images do not, therefore, represent actual, or even average, travel times and should not be relied on as such.
13. The map images are provided under the Creative Commons CC-by-SA 3.0 licence. The underlying map data is based on OpenStreetMap data, and the transport data is provided under UK Open Government Licence.
14. Nothing in this agreement is intended to act as an assignment of any intellectual property right.
15. When you use this website some information about you becomes available to us. This includes your name, contact details, and a record of your purchases from us. We comply with Data Protection Act requirements regarding the use and storage of your personal data. We will not store your data longer than necessary, and will do our utmost to store it securely. At any time you can request a copy of the data records we store about you.
16. This service uses a session cookie in order to know whether users are logged in and for the short term storage of information necessary to provide the service such as the volume of maps requested by the user. It also uses a CSRF (Cross Site Request Forgery) protection cookie, to prevent cross site request forgeries which should not store any personal information about the user.
17. Like millions of other websites we use Google Analytics to help us understand how people use our services in order to improve these. This uses cookies which anonymously record online behaviour of our visitors. 18. You agree not to share your login details with third parties. You are responsible for keeping your password secure.
19. You agree that we may, from time to time, send you important updates about the service where changes or updates may be relevant to your use of the service. This is separate to our general information updates to which you can opt-in when signing up to the service.
20. You agree that Mapumental Ltd is not responsible for the accuracy of NPTDR data or map data as provided by OpenStreetMap. We are also not responsible for decisions you make as a result of using our service.
21. We cannot guarantee a specific outcome resulting from the use of the service. You agree that we are not liable for any consequential loss to you or third parties as a result of using this service.
22. Furthermore, you agree that our liability to you under this agreement is limited to the amount you have paid us under this agreement.
23. While we will use our best efforts to maintain the service, we cannot guarantee that the site or its services will be error-free and uninterrupted. We retain the right to suspend, terminate or change the operation of the site, its subdomains or services provided through the site, for any reason at any time without notice. We will not be liable for any loss, damage, expense or costs suffered by you as a result of suspending or withdrawing the site or terminating your account.
24. This agreement is governed by English Law and any disputes are subject to jurisdiction of English courts. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights.
